Lloyd Claiborne is Buckland's wealthiest client, who throws a New Year Eve's party at his mansion.

Claiborne invited all the prominent people in San Francisco, including the mayor, Prue and Claire, to his New Year's Eve party. Robert Galliard, who had purchased an Emerald Necklace from him, was also invited. He had a brief encounter with Prue before going back to the party.

Days later, Lloyd was distressed to hear that many guests and catering staff members from the party had mysteriously fallen ill and Phoebe Halliwell visited Lloyd's mansion to find clues about Robert, who she suspected to be involved. Claiborne showed her to the chess board in the library, where she tried to have a vision. The attempt made her head throb, and she decided to leave. A vision hit her as she exited the room.

Piper and Phoebe later snuck into his estate to steal the necklace and imprison the warlock Lascaris again. Once this task was accomplished, they brought it back to the estate, and Lloyd successfully handed the jewel over to Robert.
