Life Essences are artificial, non-corporeal beings comparable to a human soul. Life Essences cannot survive without possessing a host body or being contained in an Essence Bearer. However, these essences are toxic and will eventually kill the host's soul if they remain inside a body for a prolonged period of time. Once possessing a body, the essence will gain access to all the powers possessed by their host, if they can control them.
The only way a Life Essence can leave a body is if the host's body dies. However, they can also be prematurely extracted through certain spells.
History[]
In 2001, a Life Essence named Terra desired freedom and escaped her creator Kierkan. She possessed an innocent man and eventually possessed Piper Halliwell, though she was later expelled when Prue killed her to drive her out of Piper's body, had her possess Leo to make her resurrect Piper, and then cast a Power of Three spell to force her out of Leo's body. Without a body to possess, she was destroyed within seconds.

Powers and Abilities[]
- Active Powers
- Possession: The ability to enter a physical body and take control over it.
- Soul Killing: The ability to destroy a soul.
- Alchemist Powers: If a Life Essence is created with an alchemist's blood, it will possess said alchemist's powers.
Weaknesses[]
- Alchemist's Tools: An Essence Bearer can be used to trap a Life Essence once it leaves a host body.
- Lack of Host: A Life Essence cannot survive for long without a living body to possess. If it remains in its primordial state for too long, it will disperse and disappear from existence.
