Jonathan David Williams, better known as J.D., was a newly reborn Whitelighter who, as a mortal, was a charge of Sam Wilder. He was imprisoned by a demon inside an enchanted collage for 50 years because of his status as a future Whitelighter.

In 1955, Sam had just gotten J.D. to trust him before his untimely disappearance. He went to watch a movie one night and was going to the counter to grab popcorn when a demon named Vaklav appeared and took a photograph of him with his enchanted camera, which trapped J.D. inside a collage. That demon feeds off the pain of the family members of the people he traps in his photographs.

His family had since spent decades trying to find him with no success.

Escape from Vaklav[]

J.D. and Billie.

When all of his family passed away, Vaklav released him from his capture to make space for a new victim. Vaklav attempted to kill him, but J.D. managed to escape, only to get hit by a car outside Vaklav's studio.

He was taken to safety by Sam and Paige. While reluctant at first, after seeing how hot he was Billie agreed to watch out for him. She kept him safe and in the dark about his situation until he discovered everything including his father's death and that magic exists. When Sam got captured by Vaklav, J.D. tried to sacrifice himself to save him but got himself killed before he had the chance to. When Paige talks to her father about J.D., he says that he fulfilled his destiny by trying to not only help save Sam but also sacrificing himself for the greater good. This suggests that, although not shown onscreen, he became a Whitelighter.
