Piper, Phoebe, Paige: "The brutal winter gives way to flowers of spring, Ludlow is vanquished."
Phoebe: "What the hell was that?"
Paige: "It was a Haiku. I couldn't do the rhyming thing."
The Charmed Ones after casting a haiku.[src]

A Haiku is a Japanese poem consisting of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world.

History

In the winter of 2002, Paige Matthews wrote a vanquishing haiku instead of a vanquishing spell, due to her inability to rhyme. Much to her sisters' surprise, the haiku worked.[1]

Ludlow's Vanquishing Haiku

The brutal winter
gives way to flowers of spring,
Ludlow is vanquished.

Notes

  • Just like spells, which are essentially rhyming poems, haiku's can vanquish demons. This may prove that any form of poetry may be used to channel one's magic into doing one's intention.
  • Haiku is a contracted form of "haikai no ku" which means "light verse".
