The Dor'chacht is an ancient clan of evil witches that appears in the novel Dark Vengeance.[1]
They were powerful and rivaled the benevolent Sol'agath.
History[]
Pre-history[]
There once were two magical clans—the Sol'agath and the Dor'chacht—that coexisted on Earth until the Dor'chacht challenged the Sol'agath for magical supremacy in the mortal realm 3000 years ago. The Sol'agaths won and their descendants have lived among humans using magic to do good ever since.
The Dor'chacht were empowered by evil. They should have forfeited human form and been banished to the Underworld upon defeat. However, before the Sol'agath struck the winning blow, the chief sorcerer Shen'arch sent his best warriors into the future while the rest of the clan remained suspended in time and space to wait for their ultimate fate to be decided. To keep the higher powers from finding them, he transferred the warriors' powers into three objects. As long as the magic is not released until the battle is rejoined, the powers that be will be unable to touch the Dor'chacht.
Battle in the New World[]
The warrior essences were transferred into three humans at the instant of conception, and they all grew up knowing about their previous lives. The Charmed Ones were the Sol'agath's descendants, and so were targeted by the Dor'chacht warriors.
By touching the Charmed Ones with their enchanted instruments, the warriors drained their powers, making their magic ineffectual so the Dor'chacht could challenge them in combat under the ancient rules of engagement without fear of reprisal. If the Charmed Ones lost the battle, they and all who have Sol'agath blood would lose their powers forever. However, the Charmed Ones, though weakened in magic and physical state, were able to defeat the Dor'chacht and restore their powers. The Dor'chacht then lost their human forms and were banished to the Underworld for all eternity.
