Constance M. Burge

Constance M. Burge is an American television writer, creator, and producer. She created the short-lived series Savannah and the long-running series Charmed. Burge was also a writer for Judging Amy, Ally McBeal and Boston Public and worked as a producer for several other shows too. In Charmed, she was executive producer and staff writer until Season 2, and then left her place because of a disagreement between her and fellow executive producer Brad Kern. She remained as a Consulting Producer until Season 4.

As an executive producer, Burge wanted each episode to end itself and she used the system "demon/warlock/freak of the week." She didn't want any episode to be a continuation of another. She also didn't want to have any episode containing the word "Charmed" in its title. The mythology of the show used creatures such as the Wendigo, the Nexus and Banshees, but after her departure (along with Robert Masselo, who was an executive story editor and demonologist of the show), things changed and the show used more Greek and Roman Mythology, such as Muses and Nymphs. Even now there are many discussions on websites about the thread: would the show be better if Constance M. Burge stayed on as a producer?

It's interesting to note that Constance M. Burge has two elder sisters and that she named Melinda Warren, the ancestor of The Charmed Ones, after her niece.
