Absorption is the ability to physically trap a being or inanimate object inside an artifact. This can be done with a spell or through the magic of the artifact in question. Whoever is trapped generally cannot be freed on their own and need someone on the outside to help them.

Examples

• Melinda used the Pewter Heart to trap Matthew Tate inside via a curse.
• The Cursed Painting could trap whoever read its invisible incantation.
• The Ice Cream Truck trapped its victims in its own dimension where they wait to be devoured by the Nothing or freed from the outside.
• The Ring of Inspiration could trap muses to channel their powers in times of great need.
• Sarpedon's Amulet could capture Guardian Angels to utilize their power of guidance.
• The book, Crossed, Double-Crossed, could absorb whoever opened it into its literary world and make them new characters in its story. Alpha and Beta neutralized this power on the book to let Piper, Phoebe, and Leo help Paige and Kyle from the outside by adding plot twists to help them along the way.
• Vaklav's Camera could trap anyone it took a photo of inside a collage. The people trapped inside would remain trapped until Vaklav decided to free them.
• The Magic Mirror was also capable of absorbing living beings via a spell. Ordinary mirrors have been used to trap Kali.

• This ability is only possessed by inanimate objects. It could be considered the counterpart of Swallowing, which is only possessed by living beings.
• It is similar to Power Absorption, though it absorbs beings and objects instead of powers.
